Time in Flux
The times in Akikostown, they are ever-changin'. One day, you may wake to find your home gone around you, your trusted battle golf club reverted to a the femur of a megalonyx, and your clothes just tattered lengths of hide crudely sewn together. The next, you may wake to find your bed has become a sleep pod complete with sound and light therapy and that very same golf club has turned into an all-in-one golf simulator game.
The key to this constant ebb and flow of time are the many wormholes in and around Akikostown. The wormholes were made by man, and while their structures were destroyed to prohibit illegal time travel, the holes still allow time to... slip through. Allegedly, there is still one operable worm hole structure in Akikostown, because new arrivals are constantly appearing, but no one has been able to pinpoint its exact location or find a way to build a tachyon structure to hold it open.
The flux in time will change every physical object in and around Akikostown with the exception of organic, biological matter and beings to its analog in time. People, animals, and plants will not change. There can be many interpretations of these constraints, the moderators understand, and we will not quibble over every minute specification. Just please do your best to have fun with the changes.
The time flux is as unpredictable as the weather, so the moderators rarely know ahead of time (no pun intended) when there will be a time flux event change, but they will do their best to provide you information about the "present" time as the events happen.

Your Arrival
As mentioned above, the time flux is unpredictable. It is also little-understood. It appears that though no structures are evident, at least one wormhole in Akikostown keeps spitting people out into the town from various places and times. Though it doesn't seem possible, it also seems to bring folks in from places and times that cannot even exist, but surely do.
Upon each arrival, a newcomer appears as if out of thin air at the end of a wide thoroughfare at sundown. No matter what the time is in Akikostown, the initial view always appears the same: on either side of the street, there are a few buildings built up from a plank boardwalk. The details are always difficult to make out because of the time of the day, but the newcomer can see a store of some sort, a bar, a restaurant, and two places calling themselves boarding houses. No matter where the newcomer chooses to go first, the people are kindly and a little apologetic. No, they don't know how the person got there, but they're always sure glad he came. They may offer their wares if the arrival looks like he's got some sort of money or anything to trade, but usually, they just refer him to his fellow newcomers for guidance.
